The Holidays Are Coming!
It's that time of year again where it will seem like every weekend is a holiday and you will be traveling more often and all this leads to a breakdown in your motivation and discipline to keep up your training. We don't have to be perfect by any means through the holidays, however, we can't completely fall off the boat either. Having cheat meals and taking days off are necessary for all of us to keep our sanity. Anyone who says that you cannot cheat or can't afford to take time away from the gym should not be in a position to give any advice on fitness. This is a myth that leads to a dead-end road of over-reaching and then over-training.
It is important though to have a plan through the holidays for your fitness. I have seen it too many times where someone will miss a few days and then make the decision to just wait until after Thanksgiving, Christmas and the New Year to get back into the swing of things. It may be the week before Thanksgiving and they miss 2 days, they then look at their calender and make the decision that since they are traveling over Christmas for 6 days, it just doesn't make sense to continue training until after 1 January. This is your body talking you into the break and convincing you that there isn't enough time to get into the gym. Let's be serious guys, 1 hour, even if you only make it in 2x/week through the holidays will have a monumental difference when compared to taking 41 days off through the Holidays. That is how many days you would end up missing if you decided to just hold off through the holidays. I can't tell you what a difference working out an average of 2x/week throughout that 41 day period would make. Take a minute and remember how sore you were your first few weeks of CrossFit…..that is the feeling that you will experience all over again by neglecting your fitness through Nov/Dec. You owe it to yourself to stay motivated through the New Year.
DON”T MAKE EXCUSES, Vitality will be open through most of the holiday and even the days we are closed, there are plenty of options you can do with limited equipment and limited time.
