These have been put away at Vitality for the forseeable future…..they will come out when the workout calls for them but that is about the extent of it. It is the only way to HELP you understand that this will not fix your six pack or lack of one. If there is something you want to change in the way your stomach looks or your body shape, the best way to achieve those results are CrossFit + Diet.
Show me someone that doesn't like the way their body currently looks and I will show you someone that can make some tweaks in their diet that will provide substantially more effective results than adding in extra abmat situps following a workout. Alot of people will tell me that they are eating strict paleo and just aren't seeing the results. My response would be to write down what your eating for 3 days, EVERYTHING that goes into your mouth from the time you wake up until the time you go to bed. What you most likely will see is that the quantity of food that your eating may be too much. This is an easy fix and one that will give you results, unlike doing countless abmats following a workout.
My recommendation for those that feel the need to get in some extra work after the wod would be to work on skills that they need improvement on. These could be Hand-Stand Pushups, Ring Dips, Pushups, T2B, Pullups, etc. etc. Put the time you are spending on Abmats to use on something that will deliver results. Get better at T2B and your core will get stronger when you can complete the movement. Get better at Pushups and your core will be stronger from stabilizing the correct way. Get more efficient in all of these movements and your ability to CrossFit at a higher intensity will follow closely behind. The higher intensity with proper form will bring you better results. Couple this with a balanced diet and you will have no problem reaching your goals. However, the pitfall that I have seen for a decade in globo gyms and close to 3 years at Vitality is the myth that you ate bad over the weekend and you can fix that by doing 5 minutes of situps after you workout. Put that effort into crushing your strength progression and pushing harder during the workout. Make it uncomfortable….if you are telling me that you are pushing to your absolute limit, I may not believe you….PUSH HARDER! Don't be satisfied with where your mental toughness currently is, strive to get tougher.
Here are a few quick things that will clean up your diet in a hurry:
1. I hate to even say it…..if your drinking soda and are complaining about results…..you can start by stopping, NOW
2. Don't eat past 7pm
3. Don't skip breakfast, it is the most important part of your day. Great start would be: 3 Eggs/2 Pieces of Bacon/Avacado
4. Eat 4+ Meals a day.
5. Try to ration your nuts, it is amazing how quickly those will add up if you have a handful every hour or so throughout the day.
6. Give up dairy
That should be a good start, good luck!
