I saw this online Saturday and I have watched it about 50 times since then, each time impressing me more and more. For those that do CrossFit can appreciate that this guy is throwing a little over 460 pounds around like it is a PVC. Many of us have numbers in our head that intimidate us. Numbers that put a ceiling as to how strong we will ever be. Numbers that when we get close to them, the weight somehow magically gets heavier because our minds tell us so. I watched athlete after athlete PR this past weekend becuase we were using Kilogram plates and no one knew how much weight, in pounds, was actually on the bar. Funny how that works right? Many of you do this with colored plates, you will front squat 80 pounds like it is nothing and then all of a sudden you put greens on and somehow 5 pounds buries you at the bottom of your squat. I digress…the point is simple. To lift heavy, you have to stop putting numbers in your head and letting your mind tell you what you can lift. Attack the bar and you will be surprised at the outcome. Whenever I need some motivation, I just go to youtube and watch freaks like this guy and it shows what is possible.
