Paleo Challenge
Alright guys, the Paleo Challenge starts tomorrow! I had a couple things that I was thinking about today that I wanted to touch on before we kick things off.
1. You need to go into this challenge with the right mindset. If you approach this wrong, you will have no chance at making it through the 6 weeks. You have to attack this like you do a workout. This means that you need to sit down and figure out any days that your going to be traveling over the next 6 weeks. It is not an issue to follow Paleo while you travel, it just takes a little more planning. I have told many of you that if you don't prep your food in advance for either a few days at a time or even a week at a time, I really don't think this is going to work out for you. Just think about how many things “come up” every day and how hard it is going to be trying to make every meal you eat instead of just grabbing some tupperware out of the fridge.
Understand that this won't be easy. If you think this is going to be a walk in the park, you will be sorely mistaken. However, the reward at the end of the 6-weeks will be more than worth it. You will learn that you have an incredible amount of discipline and you will also understand what your body is supposed to feel like.
2. Understand why you decided to do this challenge. This may be different for everyone. I think a few of the big ones would be:
A. For the kids. If there is a chance that this can help lead you to a longer, healthier life which will in turn lead to more quality time spent with your family….isn't that a pretty good chance to take?
B. Time for a change. You have tried all kinds of crazy fad diets and you are sick of them not working. I will remind you that this is not a fad diet but a lifestyle change. This change will give you the start you need to move in the right direction. CrossFit coupled with Nutrition is one of the most potent combinations out there. Each are difficult in their own right but the results will speak volumes.
C. To Test yourself. 99% of the country couldn't make it 2 days on this challenge and that probably isn't an exaggeration…unfortunately. Everyone loves a challenge, no matter what it is. Now you can take on an incredibly difficult challenge and have the opportunity to take a big step in the right direction with your nutrition. I tell everyone that this is only 6-weeks of your life. If you don't feel better at the end of the challenge, stop Paleo and never do it again. I will tell you, not to burst your bubble, I have yet to talk with ONE person following a Paleo Challenge that didn't feel substantially better.
3. Say YES. If you are on the fence whether or not to do the challenge, let me help you make up your mind. Stop making excuses, I gurantee the excuses are probably weak at best. Stop coming up with reasons why this won't work for you. This WILL work for you, stop being scared and take control of the situation. You will have a huge support group of people at the gym that will be experiencing the same ups and downs and be there with you every step of the way. Most other challenges that we face, we end up taking them on all by ourselves and you end up feeling pretty isolated, this will be very different. Everyday, there will be a number of Vitality folks that will be there for you when you need some encouragement. I will even make an exception and I will be extra “encouraging” over the 6-weeks challenge!
