This is a pretty cool video that can help rationalize your big dreams. That doesn't mean that they are a good idea…..but don't let anyone tell you not to dream big. The best thing that ever happened to me was: A. Join the Marine Corps and B. Open CrossFit Vitality with Jess. I immediately surrounded myself with people who would never be satisfied with just “getting by”. There are too many of those types of people out there and the disease they have is contagious. Lazyness. The more of these people you have around you, the harder it is for you to be yourself and the more comfortable you are with mediocrity. I am so fortunate to be surrounded by people who have all done some pretty amazing things in their lives, whether it be athletically or in the business world. I am confident that is one of the reasons we have had so much success at Vitality, the type of people that are here just attract good people. It is such a positive environment to be a part of because everyone is constantly working to improve themselves in so many different areas of their lives. There is no room here for Ego's, if you bring one of those with you, I promise it will get stepped on very quickly.
Every Monday that comes around I have to smile that there are so many people out there that are waking up like me, dreading what they are about to do from today until Friday. I left for the gym early because I was anxious to get in and see how people had been doing with the CrossFit Total so far….and to see how many cherrypickers we had….which was alot:) Don't worry, I will still include you on the “good member” list even if you were one of the cherrypickers today…..but I know who you are…
I can't speak for everyone but I would assume that many of you may be moving a little slow as you wander into the gym but once you get going and you are surrounded by a group of familiar faces that are motivated to start their day off on the right foot, I bet you leave Vitality feeling better than when you arrived. That to me is the key ingredient for a sustainable hobby. If it doesn't make you feel good, you had better find something else and somebody else to surround yourself with.
Below is another randomly cool video that talks about why CrossFit is so much more than just a sport. It isn't about how much your deadlift is or how much your shoulder press was today, it was about being better than you were yesterday. It is about supporting those next to you in the workout. CrossFit is creating a giant community of people who care more about others than themselves. Believing in that concept leaves us drastically outnumbered for now, but everyday this community of people is getting bigger and bigger.
