1.Were you active prior to Cross Fit?
Yes, I was doing the typical globo-gym weight training and playing rugby. I’m pretty sure I’ve been involved
with some sort of sport since I was 5 years old. I tend to get really cranky if I don’t stay active. 2. When did you first start doing Cross Fit? I’ve been doing crossfit for a little over 2 years, 3 months here at Crossfit Vitality. 3. What were your thoughts after your first workout? 2 thoughts, I needed to stretch more and apparently all those sit-ups I had done in the past were a big waste of time. Between overhead squat and pass thru’s, I had no idea a pvc pipe could be so painful. Also GHD sit-ups are the real deal, I couldn’t stand up straight for a week my abs were so sore. Needless to say, I was hooked. 4. What do you enjoy the most about Cross Fit? There are multiple reasons I love Crossfit but the one that keeps me coming back is the camaraderie. It could be a professional athlete or a grandmother, there is a special bond created when you go to that bad place during a metcon and get up and high five at the end of it. The competition can be pretty addictive as well. Crossfit Vitality in particular has been amazing. Not only are the coaches, facility, and athletes here second to none, but it is such a positive vibe every time you walk in. 5. What were your goals when you first started? I basically just wanted to become a better athlete…bigger, faster, stronger type goals. Maybe look good naked too? What are they now? I still want to be faster and stronger, but I’ve thrown in a lot nutrition and mobility goals. I really want to improve on my endurance and body weight/gymnastic movements. 6. What is your favorite Cross Fit movement? I have a lot of room to improve but jerk is probably the movement that I have the most natural strength. 7. What is your least favorite movement? I suck at burpees. I’ve heard the saying “you’ll never fail a burpee” but I’m pretty sure I can prove that wrong. 8. What kind of nutrition plan do you follow and has that changed since you started Cross Fit? What is a nutrition plan? Haha, I try and eat paleo but I’m not very consistent. The Mod Paleo program has been huge for me since joining Vitality. I’m pretty excited to try the Paleo Challenge coming up as well. All in all, I eat 100 times healthier than I did 2 years ago. 9. Talk about your results from doing Cross Fit? Jeez, where to start? Learning how to do double-unders, muscle-ups, HSPU’s, weight lifting PR’s, improved mobility, less injuries, healthy diet, better rugby player, not to mention countless friendships. I’m sure plenty more to come in 2014.
