This is a pretty cool article that talks about why the SEALs are so successful at what they do. It talks about what phrases they view as unacceptable and why. Not all of them have the carryover into CrossFit, but they all have carryover into our everyday lives.
I think these are all things that can be learned at a young age vice waiting until later in life to find them out the hard way. My all time favorite is how many times I hear people say, “I can’t do that”. This usually comes out of their mouth before they have even comprehended what task it is they are talking about. This is a mental reflex more than anything. It is the same as trying to quit smoking or any other bad habit you may have, it will take time and effort but will have equal payoff once you break this bad habit.
Everyone knows my stance on being late, I won’t beat that dead horse anymore. Time management is one of the most important pieces of being successful and again, it can be learned.
The bottom line is that there are organizations out there that are extremely successful. Why not copy and paste everything they are doing right? There is a reason they are successful, the people that make up the organization are a large part of it, but the philosophy behind the organization is equally important.
