Hard to believe this is our 5th Thanksgiving with everyone at Vitality, awesome to see the faces that have been with us since we started and so many new faces that are just getting on this ride. Have a safe, happy, holiday and look forward to seeing you all back in the box soon!
Don’t be afraid to splurge on days like today, it’s important for your sanity. What you need to remember is “a” cheat day is different than “8 cheat days”. The holiday season is, and has been, notorious for the sabotage of many nutrition and fitness plans. Usually the wheels will come off for a couple days and it puts us at a fork in the road….
Option A is that we cut our losses and get back on track, with only a minor setback. Then there is Option B. This option involves the abandonment of whatever fitness and nutrition goals you have had in place and usually involves an extensive binge on junk food with little to no exercise. The thought process that is used to justify this choice is that you will start over fresh in January, once the holiday season is completely over.
Option B is a choice that many of us make, fully aware of the consequences but at the time, we fall into the trap of putting our health on the back burner for the immediate gratification associated with food, alcohol, and many other guilty pleasures. When you are faced with this decision during this holiday season, make the right choice. Enjoy yourself, eat things you normally wouldn’t, stay up later than normal with your friends and family….but keep training. Stay active and you won’t regret it. Don’t be part of the bigger group that puts on 10+ pounds over the holidays and loses all the ground they have gained over the previous 11 months…..trust me, in the end, it won’t be worth it.
