A note from Linda Meadows
Hey guys, I got a note from Linda and wanted to share what she has done to implement Paleo with the demands of her Job at the Hospital.
“I read your blog about being hungry. I work for a CMC hospital as a nurse anesthetist therefore, I am up at 0430 every morning. I arrive at work by 0600. On my drive to work I eat a handful of nuts along with my green tea (decaffeinated). I typically receive my morning break between 0800 and 0900 and will eat a lettuce wrap with turkey and drink some water. This all tides me over till I receive my lunch break – typically some form of meat and fruit/vegetable with water again. Brushing your teeth after lunch will also curb hunger pains. In addition, have a sweet tooth, try sugar free gum when you feel the chocolate urge at work. I am always starving on the way home or to my workout with Tristan so I will eat another handful of nuts and water on my way. As you can imagine, I can never leave my patients under any circumstances in the operating room. I must have relief from another nurse anesthetist or anesthesiologist. Hence, I make the most out of my breaks, when they come, to curb the hunger pains. I must admit, I do withhold most of my water drinking until my workday is done. Bathroom breaks do not occur during cases. I have now lost 40 lbs. If I can do it at the age of 50, anyone can too. Save the grunts for when you are working out like I do when Tristan wants me to run a mile and then do 100 sumo deadlifts to follow. I just imagine what it would be like to have a 25 year old body on this 50 year old frame! The brain is a magical tool that can be trained to perform in any way you want! Dreaming and going to my happy place seems to help me – mind over body, we are strong and will only become stronger!”
Thanks for sharing Linda!
